For iOS and Android

You've arrived.
Ring from your phone.

Save the doorbells of your family and friends. When you're near their home, TapToRing offers to ring and it sounds on their phone. No intercom, no calling, no “I'm downstairs”.

  • No hardware
  • Only people you invite can ring
  • Only near the door

How it works

Three steps. It works between people who know each other.

  1. Create your doorbell

Download the app and give it a name: “Home”, “Flat 3B”, “Grandma's house”.

  2. Share it with your people

Send your doorbell with a link or show them the QR code from the app. They add it to their app and it stays in their list.

  3. They arrive, ring, your phone sounds

When they're near your home, the app offers to ring. It sounds on your phone and you can reply.

Why TapToRing

Shows up right when you arrive

If you turn on nearby alerts, the app detects you're near the home of someone on your list and offers to ring. No searching contacts or texting “I'm downstairs”.

All your doorbells in one list

Family, friends, your partner's flat: every doorbell shared with you is saved. And yours rings on your phone even with headphones on or out in the garden.

Only your people, only at your door

Only people you shared your doorbell with can ring and, if it has a location, only when they're nearby. Nobody rings you from across town.

Who it's for

For the homes you visit often, and the people who visit yours.

Family

Visit your parents or grandparents without calling the landline or waiting for them to hear the bell.

Broken or no intercom

Your friends let you know from the street even when the intercom doesn't work.

Shared flats

Your visitors ring your doorbell, not the whole flat's: only your phone sounds.

Carers and home help

Whoever looks after a relative can let them know they've arrived, without relying on the bell being heard.

Frequently asked questions

Who can ring my doorbell?

Only people you share your doorbell with (via a link or a QR code from the app) and who add it to their app. If your doorbell has a location, they can only ring it when nearby: by default, within 150 metres.

How does TapToRing use my location?

When you ring a doorbell that has a location, the app checks that you're nearby, so it needs location permission. The automatic alert when you arrive (“you're nearby, ring?”) is something you turn on in the app, and it requires “Always” location permission because it works in the background with the app closed. Without it, you can still open the app and ring when you're nearby.

Does the other person need the app?

Yes. To ring a doorbell you need TapToRing installed and that doorbell added. Today you can't ring from a browser or with a QR code on the door.

When will it be available?

We're preparing the iOS and Android versions; it's not on the App Store or Google Play yet. Join the list and we'll let you know.

What about couriers?

Today they can't ring your doorbell: TapToRing is for your people. We're researching options for deliveries and one-off visits.
